What data we collect and why
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate location (city-level), device type, and similar aggregate statistics. Google may set cookies for this purpose. You can opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on or by enabling Do Not Track in your browser.
Comments
If comments are enabled and you leave one, we collect the data shown in the comment form plus your IP address and browser user agent, to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar if you use one.
Contact emails
If you email us, we keep your message and address only for as long as needed to handle your inquiry.
Security logs
We use Wordfence for security. It may log IP addresses and request data to detect and block malicious activity. This data is kept for up to 90 days.
Content delivery
Our site runs behind Cloudflare, which may process IP addresses and request data to deliver content and protect against abuse, per Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Cookies
We use cookies for: analytics (Google Analytics), security (Wordfence, Cloudflare), and basic site functionality (e.g., remembering comment form details if you opt in). You can block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may not work properly.
Advertising
We plan to display ads via Google AdSense in the future. Google may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
Embedded content
Articles may include embedded content (e.g., videos, code snippets). Embedded content from other sites behaves as if you visited those sites directly, and may collect data about you.
How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics’ settings (currently 14 months). Comment data is kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove it. Security logs are kept up to 90 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email [email protected] and we’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
